When picking out a pool shape and size you should
keep the following information in mind:
For a pool to be considered a "diving pool"
(regardless if the pool has a diving board or not) it must have
an 8' deep end; to make the pool that deep it must be a minimum
of 32' long. This is because the pool must have a 14' long slope
going from the shallow end to the deep end.
The following are the average length dimensions
of an inground pool that is 32' long. Take notice of the length
of the shallow end. While keeping all other dimensions constant,
most extra length added to the pool can be added to the shallow
end (i.e. a 36' long pool can have a 12' shallow end.) this may
be important to a family that wants more area for volleyball, basketball
or just general shallow hanging out area.
- "Backwall": 4'
- "Hopper" (or deep end): 6'
- "Slope": 14'
- "Shallow end": 8'

Rectangle inground pools are always going to have
more surface area making it a larger pool. With the freeform and
shaped pools you loose a lot of area to inward shape. In addition
the pools tend to be more expensive due to the extra installation
work that is required.

Also, rectangular pools are easier to clean because
the circulation of the water is not broken up by the shape of the
pool.
Any straight wall pool can be altered to fit
your preference. It is common that we install 18' x 40' pools even
though the manufacturer does not list them as a size. This is because
we piece together individual panels to make the pool frame; if you
want the pool to be 6' longer, then we just add 1 more 6' panel
on each side of the pool. (Panel JPEG)
If you prefer, we can add extra depth to the shallow
end. This area of the pool is normally 40" deep, however we
offer an extra 8" of depth if you prefer. Keep in mind, that
adding any extra depth to this area of the pool makes the final
step to the liner an unusually large drop.
