Picking out a pool shape and size that is best
for your family and your yard is the first step in getting a pool.
When picking out a pool size you need to consider who is going to
be swimming in the pool and what are they doing. For someone who's
primary concern is swimming laps, obviously the longer the pool
the better.
For people who are looking for a pool for splashing
about and playing games
you want to get a pool with as much
surface area as possible. Although people tend to think that oval
pools are larger it is important to realize that although a pool
may be longer does not mean it has more surface area.
When
comparing price and size, round pools offer a more significant swimming
area for significantly less price. The average size above ground
pools is 24' round and 15' x 30' oval.
Although the oval is 6' longer it is important
to realize that it is 9' narrower over the total length. That translates
to less water in the same depth pool. In addition, round pools are
easier to clean because the shape of the pool keeps the dirt moving
towards the center.
In the past few years most pool manufacturers
have moved from 48" deep pools to 52". We are able to
get 48" pools on special requests.
